From my first 10 minutes underwater I remember the following thoughts: “This is weird”. “O shit I have salt water in my eyes”. “Relax, I can do this” and “I have never been underwater for so long and I’m still breathing this is awesome!” and I think from that moment on I was hooked.

I remember these 10 minutes vividly because they are not so long ago: I got certified in march 2011. In the three years that passed since then I made over a thousand dives. I’m not telling you this to brag but because it tells you one thing: I really, really, really love diving. And because working in the dive industry can be a little bit crazy sometimes with days that never seem to end.

Three years later I am working as a PADI dive instructor and still loving every minute of it. What makes this job so amazing is, of course, the diving that I get to do on a daily basis, the incredible people from all over the world I get to meet and work with and the fact that it allows me to live in the most beautiful places on earth.

My favorite thing? Taking people diving for the first time and watch them taking their first, careful breaths underwater. Or showing them their very first shark. Or watching them glow with pride when they realize that they can totally do this even though they thought they couldn’t.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood (which is at the moment Spain’s Mediterranean coast or The Netherlands) and want to learn how to dive, please drop by! I teach the full PADI curriculum from Discover Scuba Dive to Divemaster and Nitrox courses so whether you want to take your very first breaths underwater or want to become a dive professional, let me know!

I really think diving is for almost everyone, but there are a few things you need to know before getting certified. It is also very important to find the right instructor for you: everyone has a different style of teaching and one might suit you better than another. If you would like me to teach you, you are more than welcome! Just get in touch through webmaster@minimaliste.nl

See you!
